Music for the moments of life

“Covert brings an authentic touch to rock music…a catalog worth digging into.”

-Valley Doll Magazine

For GRAMMY nominated artist Ralph Covert, everything is ultimately all about the songs. With a catalog that stretches from bristling rock n roll to effervescent kids music, he has toured the world, written musicals that have been performed Off-Broadway, and performed at music festivals including Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits. His music takes listeners on a journey encompassing life’s highs and lows, touching on diverse themes like love, death, sex, and rebirth – as well as tap-dancing elephants! His lyrics and melodies evoke comparisons to artists like Elliott Smith and Paul McCartney, and his albums are arranged with sparse yet sparkling production.

Covert’s band The Bad Examples have been a staple of the Chicago music scene since their heyday in the 90s, and his Ralph’s World children’s music project helped revolutionize kids music by introducing the idea that if the music was good enough, the parents could love it as much as their kids, and landing him on the Disney Channel. He has toured from LA to New York to Amsterdam, played shows with bands and artists including Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Los Lobos, Squeeze, Del Amitri, Steppenwolf, Wilco, The Lemonheads, Golden Earring, and BB King. He’s been on many national TV shows as well as the front page of the New York Times Arts Section. In May, 2016, he performed the first ever Facebook Live music concert, and during the COVID years he performed nearly a thousand virtual “Staycation” concerts for his fans. He currently performs live shows as Ralph’s World, with The Bad Examples, and acoustic with a string quartet.
